My autistic son had a rough day. He was dysregulated and overwhelmed and had been biting himself a lot to try to cope. As soon as we got to swim lessons he changed. He was excited and getting in some desperately needed sensory input. Not only is it good exercise and learning good skills (especially since he is drawn to water), it helps him come back to himself since he is getting his needs in. He loves it and the rest of his day was much better.
