Therapeutic Aquatics

At Learn 2 Swim LLC, our Therapeutic Aquatics program uses the natural support and resistance of water to create a safe and engaging environment for individuals of all ages. Sessions focus on aquatic movement, sensory regulation, and strengthening exercises that promote improved mobility, balance, coordination, and overall physical well-being.

The program is tailored to meet the unique needs of each participant, including those with special needs or physical challenges. By providing a supportive and encouraging setting, Therapeutic Aquatics helps participants build confidence, functional strength, and a deeper connection with the water.

How Therapeutic Aquatics Makes a Difference

A supportive water-based program that enhances mobility, strength, balance, coordination, and confidence, while providing sensory regulation and tailored exercises for individuals of all ages, including those with special needs.

Brain & Nerve Support

Assists children with conditions that affect the nervous system, enhancing coordination, timing, and smooth movement patterns.

Sensory Awareness & Regulation

Teaches children to process touch, movement, and sound more effectively, helping them stay calm, focused, and engaged.

Body Strength & Movement

Helps children improve overall strength, posture, coordination, and control in their daily activities and in the water.

Growth & Skill Development

Supports children in reaching movement milestones, learning new skills, and gaining confidence in physical tasks.

How Therapy Happens in the Water

During a Therapeutic Aquatics session, our trained instructors guide each child through safe and structured activities in the water. Every exercise is designed to improve movement, coordination, strength, and confidence, while also providing sensory support. Sessions are personalized to each child’s needs, making sure they feel comfortable, engaged, and successful.

Here’s what our instructors do during each session:

  • Demonstrate and guide movements to ensure proper technique and safety

  • Provide gentle support and cues in the water for balance and posture

  • Adjust exercises to match each child’s skill level and goals

  • Encourage and motivate to build confidence and independence

  • Monitor progress and adapt activities to maximize improvement

Through these steps, children learn to move more freely, develop new skills, and gain confidence in the water, all in a fun and supportive environment.

Why Therapeutic Aquatics Costs More Than Regular Swim Lessons

Therapeutic Aquatics is more than just swimming. Each session is personalized and led by certified instructors trained in therapy techniques, focusing on your child’s specific developmental, physical, and sensory needs. Children receive individualized exercises tailored to their abilities and goals, often in smaller groups or one-on-one.

Beyond learning to swim, sessions are designed to build strength, coordination, balance, sensory awareness, and confidence. Instructors provide hands-on support, track progress, and adapt activities to ensure every child experiences safe and effective growth. This level of specialized attention and therapy-focused guidance is what makes Therapeutic Aquatics a higher investment than regular swim lessons.

Happy Swimmers, Happy Parents

My autistic son had a rough day. He was dysregulated and overwhelmed and had been biting himself a lot to try to cope. As soon as we got to swim lessons he changed. He was excited and getting in some desperately needed sensory input. Not only is it good exercise and learning good skills (especially since he is drawn to water), it helps him come back to himself since he is getting his needs in. He loves it and the rest of his day was much better.

How the Program Works:

Regular Swim Lessons vs. Therapeutic Aquatics

Explore the key differences between regular swim lessons, which focus on building swimming skills, strokes, and water safety for all ages, and therapeutic aquatics, which uses the water as a gentle, supportive tool for rehabilitation, physical therapy, and developmental support tailored to individual needs.

Regular Swim Lessons

Structured programs designed to teach children, teens, and adults proper swimming techniques, water safety, and stroke development in a fun and supportive environment.

Therapeutic Aquatics

Personalized water-based sessions that focus on rehabilitation, physical therapy, and developmental support to improve strength, balance, flexibility, and overall well-being.

Yes, we provide a variety of learning options, including private and group lessons for different age groups and needs, ensuring a suitable environment for everyone, whether in a structured class or a more personalized setting.

We customize our programs by assessing each individual’s unique abilities and goals, ensuring that all swimmers, from infants to adults and those with special needs, receive the attention and support they require to thrive in the water.

Our instructors provide continuous support throughout the learning process, including personalized feedback and encouragement during lessons, to help each swimmer gain confidence and improve their skills effectively.

We offer lessons for all ages, from infants to adults. Each lesson is tailored to suit the age, skill level, and comfort of each swimmer.

Yes! You can, as long as there’s an instructor available at the same preferred days and times.

Yes! As long as there is a Goods and Services form filled out by a Doctor (DR), Physical Therapist (PT), or Occupational Therapist (OT) with the exact term “Therapeutic Aquatics” through Learn 2 Swim LLC. The specialist should also include notes explaining why they believe this will be beneficial for the child.

You only need to have a support broker to assist you with the requirements and other paperwork. Our role is to create the treatment plan needed for your child and prepare the request for Therapeutic Aquatics. Your support broker will submit the plan for approval.

Once your FDS plan is approved, you just need to inform us, and we will start scheduling your child’s Therapeutic Aquatics sessions. Yes! It depends on the approved plan dates for your child. If approved for a full year, we can schedule sessions based on your preference, once or twice per week. When the plan is nearing its end, we will create a new request for renewal and will need to be submitted to continue sessions for the next year.

Yes, we have policies for this, including cancellation guidelines.

  • If notified 24 hours before the lesson: The date can be removed from the invoice and rescheduled.

  • If notified within 24 hours: The session will still be included in the invoice. If you want a make-up lesson, out-of-pocket payment is required since the instructor’s waiting time still needs to be compensated.

If a client arrives late, the lesson will only last for the remaining scheduled time. For example, if a 30-minute lesson is scheduled from 1:00–1:30 PM and the client arrives at 1:05 PM, they will receive a 25-minute lesson.
